Constitution of the Citizens for Better Government
Greenwood County, South Carolina
ARTICLE I
Name of the organization shall be:
Citizens for Better Government of Greenwood
ARTICLE II
Purpose of the Organization:
To monitor the actions of local, state and federal government operations in order to:
- inform the citizens of Greenwood and surrounding counties
- formulate alternatives for policies
- work with the various agencies by making suggestions to improve results
ARTICLE III
Membership:
The membership shall consist of US citizens and residents of Greenwood and surrounding counties paying annual dues specified in the Bylaws
ARTICLE IV
Business Meetings:
Regular meetings will be held to inform members of the workings of government operations. An annual meting will be held on the second Tuesday in January with the primary purpose to elect officers for the coming year and to receive reports from the various areas of interest. Other meetings will be held monthly or as called by the Directors. A one-week notice is required for called meetings with the purpose of the meeting being stated in the notice. A Quorum for all meetings will be the greater of 15 members or 20% of the membership.
ARTICLE V
Amendments:
This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the members present and voting at a meeting called or designated for such purpose. Written proxy votes will be accepted.
